The license nobody looks up
In California, pest control is not regulated by the CSLB. It is regulated by the Structural Pest Control Board, which issues three separate branch licenses: Branch 1 is fumigation, Branch 2 is general pest and rodents, Branch 3 is termites and other wood-destroying organisms. A company can hold one branch and not the others. So when a general-pest company hands you a termite report, ask which branch they hold. It takes thirty seconds to check on the SPCB site and it is the single most useful thing a homeowner can do before signing anything.

Recurring general service for ants, spiders, and roaches. Rodent work, which is mostly exclusion: finding the gap and sealing it, because trapping without sealing is a subscription, not a fix. Termite inspection and treatment, including the escrow reports that hold up half the home sales in this state. Bed bugs, which are their own specialty and their own price tier. Wasps, bees, and the ground-nesting yellowjackets that ruin August. Mosquito reduction. Wildlife: raccoons, skunks, opossums, and the squirrel in your attic.
